Expert consultation and advisory

For teams that already have data scientists and need the sensing, evaluation and deployment judgement that is hard to hire.

Why this matters

When the team is good and the project is still stuck

A common situation: your team is good, the project is stuck, and nobody can say whether the problem is the sensor, the labels, the model or the metric. Bringing in a vendor means starting again. Bringing in a reviewer for four days usually means finding out in week one.

We sell senior engineering time, by the day or on a monthly retainer, with named engineers who stay on the account. The work is deliberately transferable: your team keeps the evaluation protocol, the labelling specification and the reasoning, so the second project does not need us.

We are also willing to do the uncomfortable version of this — evaluating a monitoring system your plant has stopped trusting, independently of the vendor who sold it, and writing down what the evidence supports.

Scope

What is included

Typical work: reviewing a stuck project, designing evaluation and labelling protocols, choosing sensors and sampling rates, deciding what runs on the edge versus on-premise, independently evaluating a monitoring system whose alerts your team has stopped trusting, preparing technical sections of funding proposals, mentoring engineers.

An independent read on a stuck project

Where the failure actually is, ranked by how much it costs to fix, with the evidence for each claim.

Evaluation and labelling protocols

Written so your team can apply them to the next project without us.

Sensor and architecture decisions

Which modality, which sampling rate, what runs on the edge and what stays on-premise.

Proposal and funding support

Technical sections of publicly funded project applications, including ZIM co-operation projects for German clients.

How it runs

Four stages, each with an output you can check

Day 1

Read-in

Your data, your notebooks, your evaluation, your alarm logs. Questions, not opinions.

Day 2–3

Analysis

Reproduce the current result, test it against a harder baseline, and look at the cases it gets wrong.

Day 4

Findings

A written assessment with a ranked list of fixes and what each is worth.

Ongoing

Retainer

A fixed number of days a month with named engineers, for reviews, decisions and mentoring.

Questions

What clients ask before they start

Will you review a system a competitor built?

Yes, and we will report what the evidence shows in either direction. An independent evaluation is only worth anything if it can come back saying the system is fine.

What is the minimum engagement?

Two days. Less than that and we would be guessing, which is not a service worth paying for.

Can you mentor our engineers rather than doing the work?

That is often the better value, and it is what the training and capability building engagement is designed for. Advisory and training are frequently bought together.
